The Pied Piper of Hamelin
This story happened in a small town called Hamelin. The peaceful people of
Hamelin were all very happy, until the horrible day the rats came. Thousands of
nasty rats came. There were huge rats and wee rats, lean rats and fleshy rats!
There were rats in all the dwellings and rats in all the shops.
Hamelin were all very happy, until the horrible day the rats came. Thousands of
nasty rats came. There were huge rats and wee rats, lean rats and fleshy rats!
There were rats in all the dwellings and rats in all the shops.
“There are rats on my dining table!” screamed one hairy man.
“There are rats under my brown chair!” said another fat man.
“There are rats in my lovely kitchen!” said one pregnant woman.
“There are rats in my fluffy bed!” said a tall man.
“There are scary rats all over the house!” called a frightened little boy.
“Make these smelly rats go away!” squealed a little girl.
The furious people of Hamelin hurried to see the Mayor. “Get rid of these stinky monsters!” they shouted. “What can I possibly do?” replied the Mayor. “There are many rats in my house too. “Unfortunately I can’t get rid of them!” “You must, make all the rats disappear as if you don’t we will definitely choose another Mayor.”
Then one day a stranger went to see the Mayor. He was dressed in dark red and flashy yellow. In his hand he carefully carried a golden flute. “I am the Pied Piper,” said the stranger, “I can make the terrible rats go away.” The Mayor whispered, “If you can seriously kick these rats away, I will give you lots of money.” “Fantastic I’ll get started,” said the Pied Piper. “But don’t forget your promise.”
Soon the Pied Piper appeared on the streets of Hamelin and began to play a strange, mysterious tune. The rats heard the tune and froze. Suddenly one rat hurried after the Pied Piper. Predictably another rat rushed after him and another. Shortly afterwards all of the rats obediently followed the Pied Piper. The Pied Piper walked towards the river, still playing the unusual tune on his flute. The rats followed like lambs and jumped into the deep river. So that was the end of the rats nasty little visit to Hamelin. The Pied Piper went back to see the Mayor. “The rats are all gone,” he said confidently. “Please give me the money you promised.”
“NO!” said the Mayor harshly, “I have no money to give you.” “If you won’t keep your promise,” answered the Pied Piper, “I will play another tune and you will regret your broken promise.” “You can do whatever you want,” said the Mayor carelessly. So the Pied Piper went out into the streets and played his music again. In all the houses and in the streets, the children instantly stopped playing. Then, one by one, the little ones followed the Pied Piper. The people of Hamelin nervously tried to stop the children, but the kids became deaf. They followed the Pied Piper through the streets and over the river. They followed the Pied Piper out of the town and up a mountain. Suddenly, the mountain magically opened up and the Pied Piper quickly went inside. The children followed him. Inside the mountain was a sparkly land full of green trees, colorful flowers and singing birds. Accidentally one little boy had badly hurt his leg and he couldn’t keep up with the other children. He saw his friend’s moving into the mountain, but he was too late to follow them. The little kid returned to the town and went to see the Mayor. “My friends are inside the mountain with the Pied Piper he sadly cried,” “They will never come back.”
